The
Order of the Eastern Star was founded by Dr.
Robert
Morris, Poet Laureate of Masonry. Never quite satisfied that all the
good in Masonry should be confined to men, he felt that Masonry
should be for the whole family. In 1850, Dr. Morris developed the
Eastern Star Degrees. The Order is based upon the legacy of five
heroines of the Bible: Adah, Ruth, Esther, Martha and Electa. Each
has lessons to be taught and learned. This is the common thread we
share when we meet. By means of the Order of the Eastern Star, we
can join together with others as Brothers and Sisters from all walks
of life in social enjoyment, community service, and charitable
works.
To
be eligible for membership in The Order of the Eastern Star, one
must be an affiliated Master Mason or related to Master Masons,
i.e.: wives, daughters, legally adopted daughters, mothers, widows,
sisters, half-sisters, granddaughters, step mothers, step daughters,
step sisters, daughters-in-law, or active members or majority
members of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls or The
International Order of Job’s Daughters. In addition to the
required relationship to a Master Mason, the only other requirement
we have is the belief in a Supreme Being.
The
Chapter that meets on the 4th Friday of the month at 8:00
